Heya cuties! V-day is just around the corner and I wanted to share with you how I am celebrating this oh-so-lovely holiday in honor of Saint Valentine. I’ve got some style inspiration, some good ideas on how to spend the day, and a playlist for all you love birds out there. Take my hand and let’s go for a . . . scroll . . .
Greetings earthlings! This post is all about one of my favorite things in life, GLITTER. I know, it sounds vapid and so dumb that you probably just questioned the purpose of my existence. Well, I was a pretty big tom-boy growing up but I still can’t recall a time that I denied my love for glitter. I think it goes a little deeper than the happy happy joy joy Ren and Stimpy dance I want to do every time I see it. I think it has more to do with my love for LIGHT and the way that glitter reflects light so well in every direction. It just never ceases to amaze me.
If you love glitter as much as I do . . .if that’s even possible. . .here is a tour of some of my most used glitter accessories. All of the items are made with multi colored glitter, or as I like to call it, PARTY GLITTER. I adore all shades, but this rainbow combination is hard to beat. Now Let’s Party . . .
Hi Friends!!! SO, I posted a picture of my chickpea salad on Instagram about a week ago and quite a few people asked about the recipe! 😀 I decided to make this post for them and anyone who is interested in a healthier, tastier, animal free version of chicken salad! Just before going vegan, I discovered chicken salad, or more specifically, chicken salad on croissant. I loved the salty sweet combination and how easy it was to decide, when out to eat for lunch, on something that was decent health-wise and still had lots of flavor. After going vegan, conjuring my own version of chicken salad was a MUST. Well, below I have displayed a series of photos that will help you create it on your own at home as well as some suggestions on how to serve and share it. Hope you enjoy!
Last, but NOT my least favorite of the fancy pants I’m sporting this Winter, are my 1970’s wide-leg, pleated, floral pantalones! I’ve AAAAAALWAYS loved baggy pants. Since I was a little Aaliya inspired tomboy, I can remember feeling my…. dopest…. in JNCO jeans or big baggy sweat pants (thank you shout out to my sister Ami for supplying those sick threads!). Ladies of the hip-hop community, can I get an Amen? Alright, so, these pants aren’t very tomboy-esque, but they ARE incredibly wide legged and I can’t picture anything more comfortable, except for maybe my birthday suit. . .
These nearly neon parachute pants stay secured with an elastic waist line and matching tie belt. For this first outfit I pictured more of a day time look for weather that is tolerable. I paired these floral babies with a plain cream tank top, vegan leather sandals, and an emerald green scarf that I’ve been living in lately. Exhibit A . . .
Recently, the idea that less is more really struck me. After going vegan, I’ve become increasingly interested in the minimalist lifestyle in general. When I look around my home I see plenty of things that I do not need or use. This year, for Christmas and the other gift giving holidays, I decided to put together a vegan, but also NON-vegan friendly, gift idea list! Each item on the list is ethically made and some even donate a portion of their profits to very helpful organizations around the world. I made sure to choose items that were made with utmost superrrrbness (quality materials) with the idea of quality vs. quantity in mind:)
Hello again, style enthusiasts! You’ve just entered, Fancy Pants – Part 2. If you haven’t read Part 1 – Seafoam Dream, it was my most recent post before this one!
As I stated in Part 1, this series is dedicated to keeping your style cool with the weather this season by opting for FUN bottoms sometimes, rather than living in jeans. Below I present to you two outfits styled around a pair of authentic, military camo bottoms . . .
At this time of year, when it’s chilly outside and the wind. . .exists (I live in Florida) . . . it’s easy to put your creative side in a box along with all your colorful summer clothing and settle for jeans day by day. I’ve been guilty of hiding my prickly legs and un-pedicured toes with the SAME jeans for a week straight during cold months. This year, I’m committed to keepin it cool with the weather.
About a month into eating a completely vegan diet, I was feeling on top of the world. I committed to something and I was sticking with it….for once. I gave up eating animal products, which includes CHEESE, for a whole MONTH! …If I can give up cheese. . .we can achieve world peace. Once the month had passed, and the victory dancing my way out of bed subsided, I realized that it wasn’t JUST food that made me guilty of supporting the unethical treatment of animals. Suddenly, all of my enthusiasm came to a screeching halt.
In the heat of the Summer in Florida, one must never stray too far from ice cream. After going vegan, I had to hunt down some dairy-free, vegan ice cream, FAST. Upon my quest, I found that there are plenty of vegan friendly ice cream options! However, I couldn’t help but notice that after trying every one I could get my hands on…there are three kinds that keep me coming back for more. Considering TASTE first and foremost, these are my top three picks for vegan ice creams you can find almost anywhere!
Drum roll pleeeaaase…
I’d like to begin by sharing that I had no idea I wanted to go vegan even up to the day before I did. In regards to my food intake, I’ve always been confused about which way is the best way to eat and what a good diet really is.
